Shannon Stowe
actor | dancer | voice over
AEA/SAG-AFTRA
As Nora Helmer, the “doll” of this play, Shannon Stowe has achieved a “shining hour.” The role is demanding in that she must go from the almost childish, wily, seductive behavior required of women in those days to a fully self-reliant, independent maturity by the end of the play that might make modern feminists applaud. Tough stuff, but Stowe hits every mark at just the right time.
A DOLL'S HOUSE review by Keith Kreitman, East Bay Times
There’s a moment here that caught my attention, which speaks towards Stowe’s acting and the mood set throughout this marvelous drama/comedy play centered on the American family. Tim Bohn, as Tom, says to Christie, “Say good bye to the house. Demo starts Monday.” He leaves. Christie has a brief private moment standing mid-stage, she swells up with tears, opens the door to leave, turns around to have one last look, and at that moment, I felt all the air being sucked out from the stage. Black out. End of play.
